About the designs
Most of the items in our store feature portions of the South District’s Broadway St. mural. The mural was painted (by masked painters) in 2020, with the goal of reflecting the diverse character of the neighborhood.
The mural is called “Our Children Spoke.” The project required two years of work and $22,000 of fundraising within the South District. The actual painting took five days by a crew of neighborhood volunteers. Nick Meister is the muralist who brought the artwork of kids who live in the District to life and created the outline that neighbors filled in, using brightly colored paints designed for the purpose. The kids’ ideas range from music to sports and animals that are a part of their world.
